I didn’t make it to the Golden Temple at Amritsar but I wish I had. This article does a nice job of painting a picture you can smell (330 pounds of chilies!). There are 80,000 visitors on weekdays and about twice that many on weekends so it’s a good place to get a sense of the overwhelming numbers that are so commonplace in India. And the bonus to visiting Amritsar is you can always be polite and be on the money by saying, “Thank you Mr. Singh.”
